Association Overview
The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) is a nonprofit membership organization headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.  Its membership is comprised of 940 motor carriers operating in interstate, intrastate and foreign commerce.
 
NMFTA publishes the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC), which is a standard that provides a comparison of commodities moving in commerce.
 
NMFTA also assigns and publishes the Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC), a unique two-to-four-letter code used to identify transportation companies, and the Standard Point Location Code (SPLC), a unique numeric code constructed as to identify the point with its geographic location.
 
NMFTA has teamed up with CrimsonLogic, a world leader in Logistics Management, to offer ACE-lerate™, a service designed to help companies involved in cross-border transportation accelerate the processing of their e-Manifests.
